5 watt valve amplifier with a single 8" Celestion Super 8 speaker and powered by 1 12Ax7 and 1 EL84.

Features 3 variable bias settings, each with different tonal characteristics, a 3 position gain switch, drive, tone and master volume controls, a "power scale" attenuator which allows the amp's overall output to be changed, giving it that "fully cranked" sound even at low volumes, and finally a triode/pentode switch for further tonal texturing possibilities.

Red Iron 5 Watter

The 5-watter (more like 7-8) uses a tube complement of 1-6x4 (directly-heated cathode, rectifier tube), 1-6SN7gt or 6SL7gt (higher gain) preamp tubes & a NOS 6V6GT cathode-biased, output tube. The power supply uses a CLC filter (choke filter for better voltage regulation).

The Spark amp was made as a 6 watt class A heads and combo in the early 2000s.  Towards the end of 2009 Redstuff will be releasing a small amp with 12-18 watts (depending on the tubes used) with 2 channels + 10" thiele cabinet.

Thomas Reußenzehn of Reußenzehn Tube Power introduces the Mk3-version of the single ended class A amp. Newest and most important feature is the possibility to muscle up the former 10 watts up to a strong 19 wattage, and when used with 6550 tubes, even up to 21 watts. With this, you can now use this tiny but powerful and first class sounding amp in a band kontext without any problems. The El-34´s power section can be stuffed with the tubes of your choice - on the fly, without correcting the BIAS. Either EL-34, 6L6, KT88 or 6550 - everything goes!

SM Electronics Firefly Guitar Valve Amp Kit

A small (around one watt) tube-based guitar amplifier using three inexpensive and readily available 12AX7 and 12AU7 (ECC83 and ECC82) valves.
 

The 15 Watter might seem pretty run-of-the-mill—a two-channel, class A design that uses a pair of EL84s to drive a SMF Celestion made speaker. But with its oval grill, staggered controls, two-tone graphics (other colors are available), and spinning-LED gear logo, you just know the 15 Watter is something different. It also packs a 4-band EQ with an active mid circuit, a reverb tone control, and an adjustable cabinet hatch that allows you to tune the box for any degree of closed- or open-back response.

First off, the 15 Watter is unusual in that its entire tube complement (which consists of five 12AX7s and a 5AR4 rectifier) is housed inside the chassis. The pots are mounted to the chassis, the tubes are gripped in ceramic, board-mounted sockets, and the wiring is clean and carefully routed. A clever friction system allows the sonic hatch to be positioned anywhere between its fully open and fully closed positions. The hatch is the most notable rear-panel detail, as the 15 Watter has no effects loop or extension-speaker jacks.

The Star Nova 5W Class A Guitar Amplifier is the smallest in Mark Sampson's hand built line of boutique guitar amplifiers. This little wonder would be similar to a Fender Vibro Champ on steroids. The Star Nova Amp features a 10" Jensen speaker housed in a package that weighs about 17 pounds. The Nova is hand wired PTP and features a single 6V6 single ended output stage. The Nova also offers two channels, a high gain and a lower gain stage (not foot switchable) for tone ranges from clean/mellow blues to high gain drive.

The Twisted Triode design is based on an old-school true triode power tube developed in the 1920's for radios. These triodes provide a very linear response and sound wonderful in audio circuits. Most guitar amplifier companies have overlooked this tube because its old design is inefficient and difficult to drive. It is those factors that make it perfect for a low wattage guitar amplifier design because it allows us to drive them at full Class A Push/Pull power levels and to deliver comfortable home listening levels.
