Dating Pignose amplifiers by serial number

The 7-100 ( since 1985 ) the first two numbers are the year of manufacture. The other models since 1996, the first two numbers denote the year of manufacture.

Pritchard

Pritchard amps have been made since 2002 in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, USA.

"Eric Pritchard is the founder, owner, and manufacturer. I have degrees in mathematics and electrical engineering. I also have more patents in the amplifier arts than any company. And these patents have the advantage of actually producing great tone.

My greatest influence was finding that engineering had made a bad assumption which adversely affected the way they approached guitar amps -- the electronics were not supposed to part of the art.

I began my seach in 1988. At that time a tube engineer said that at the end of his career the biggest problem was obtaining sutiable materials to make tubes. Today, with the advent of the flat panel displays, there are no big markets for low current tube materials. The tube market is disappearing for lack of supplies. My amps can fill the gap with better tone, lighter weight, and greater reliability.

Pritchard Amps are assembled by hand, although some components are machine made. The cabinets are substantially hand built.

Pritchard Amps offers customization of their basic products as well for dual voltage operation, special speakers, custom tones, etc.
